FOX had a turn today at sharing some upcoming small screen excitement during its 2013 upfronts presentation. Here are some highlights of what we’ll see from them this fall:
5 – Lost & Fringe fans alert: Fox has announced that they will be adding J.J. Abrams’ futuristic action drama “Almost Human” to the regular Monday night lineup of “Bones” in the fall, and “The Following” will return for a midseason run.
4 – Limited Event Series: “24” has been brought back to life and will air summer 2014, along with M. Night Shyamalan’s “Wayward Pines,” described as “an intense, mind-bending thriller in which nothing is what it seems.” Wowzers.
3 – Midseason Madness: A slew of mid-season shows have been green-lighted, including Legal Drama “Rake,” Starring Greg Kinnear and “Gang Related,” a drama based on the Los Angeles elite gang task force. “Law & Order SVU”’s Christopher Meloni (Detective Elliot Stabler) will be venturing into new territory as the lead in the comedy “Surviving Jack.” Another comedy slated for mid-season is “Us and Them,” starring Jason Ritter (yes, the son of John Ritter) and former “Gilmore Girl” Alexis Bledel. One of three animated shows, “Murder Police” will also air mid-season.
2 – Friday Frights: “Sleepy Hollow,” a time-travel adventure thriller brought to us form co-creators/executive producers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (Star Trek / Transformers / Fringe), will air on Fridays after “Junior Masterchef” (working title)
1 – Power Tuesday: Fox’s returning shows “New Girl” and “The Mindy Project” will be joined by Seth MacFarlane’s new live-action comedy “Dads” and comedy “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” starring former SNL cast member Andy Samberg. It was also announced that New Girl will get the coveted post-superbowl spot, airing on Sunday, Feb. 2. Go Jess!
