5 Notes About the ABC Fall Schedule

Today ABC Showcased its upcoming “Super Fun” entertainment for the 2013-14 season, which includes 13 new series and a Pixar “Toy Story” special.  Check out the full schedule in this pdf.  Highlights:

5 – New ABC series:  “Back in the Game,” “Betrayal,” “The Goldbergs,” “Killer Women,” “Lucky 7,” “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” “Mind Games,” “Mixology,” “Once Upon a Time in Wonderland,” (spin-off of current show “Once Upon a Time), “Resurrection,” “Super Fun Night,” “Trophy Wife,” and new alternative series “The Quest.”

4 – Case of the Mondays?  Not anymore:  “Dancing with the Stars” will no longer air two nights a week, though not to worry, it will now air from 8:00-10:00 p.m., on Mondays, which will include the performance show and results show in one night, keeping those dancing fans from touching the remote!

3 –  No Slugs in September:   Hoping to avoid a slow series rollout, or “Slugfest of September,” as ABC Entertainment Group President Paul Lee puts it, they will start the season with “Resurrection,” “Mind Games” featuring the hilarious and talented Steve Zahn, “Killer Women” starring Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Gallactica), and “Betrayal” from writer/executive producer David Zabel (ER).  Midseason will also see the debut of reality show “The Quest,” and “Mixology,” set at a Manhattan Bar. “The whole season takes place in one night” said Lee.  “Suburgatory” will also return midseason for wacky over-the-top suburb fun!

2 –  “Super Fun” Wednesday:   ABC’s strong Wednesday night lineup will debut “Back in the Game” following the “The Middle,” and Rebel Wilson’s sitcom, “Super Fun Night” landed the ‘cushy’ spot following “Modern Family.”

1 – Taking a chance on Tuesday:  Of the thirteen new series ABC is adding to the mix, four will air Tuesday nights, including the highly anticipated “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” a spin-off of the feature film franchise The Avengers.  The comedy, “Trophy Wife,” starring Bradley Whitford and Marcia Gay Harden, “The Goldbergs”, and “Lucky 7” are all set to air on Tuesdays after “S.H.I.E.L.D.”
